Typical Siding Cost Ranges in Canada (2025)

These estimates include both materials + labour, though they may not always include extras like removing old siding, fixing sheathing, weather barrier, insulation upgrades, etc.

Typical Cost Ranges in Canada (2025)
Siding Type Typical Cost per sq ft (CAD) Notes / Sources
Vinyl $6.00 – $9.00 Mid range – darker colors more expensive
Fiber Cement $12.00 – $17.00 Prefinished paint options will be higher
Engineered Wood $10.00 – $18.00 Price varies on product range & color
Aluminum / Metal $10.00 – $14.00 Can vary depending on the gauge
Natural Wood Siding $12.00 – $20.00 Can vary a lot depending on wood species
Stone veneer accents $25.00 – $50.00 Can vary depending on product

Why the Wide Variation?

These ranges are broad because actual cost depends heavily on:

  1. Region / local labour rates — Metro areas and remote differ

  2. House complexity — number of angles, gables, windows, rooflines

  3. Material quality / brand — premium vs builder grade

  4. Extras — specialty trim, decorative features, custom colours, etc.

  5. Access / scaffolding / safety requirements — multi-storey homes, tight sites, etc.

What You Should Use as a Rule-of-Thumb

For budgeting in 2025 in much of Canada:

  • For vinyl siding, expect $6 to $9 per sq ft installed in many cases (middle of the range).

  • For fiber cement / Hardie-type products, plan on CAD $12 to $17 per sq ft depending on product line and site challenges.

  • For metal, engineered wood, or premium specialty siding, budget on the higher side of those ranges.
