Blogging About Siding: Yes, It's a Real Thing — and Here's Why We Do It

When we started our local Halifax siding business, we thought we’d be spending most of our time on ladders, not laptops.

But here we are — writing blogs.

Turns out, these little articles aren’t just about filling space on our website. They help homeowners make smart decisions, answer common questions, and give people a better idea of who we are and how we work.

Why a Siding Company Is Even Writing a Blog

It’s a fair question. Siding isn’t always the most glamorous topic. You don’t often hear people say, “Did you read that amazing post about fiber cement flashing details?”

But here's the thing: People care about their homes.

They want them to look good, last long, and be protected from the elements. And siding plays a huge role in that.

So, when we write blogs, we’re not just filling the internet with words — we’re helping you:

  • Understand your options (vinyl, wood, fiber cement, etc.)

  • Compare materials and costs

  • Understand the installation process

  • Learn how to maintain your siding so it lasts

It’s practical info. And it’s written by people who’ve actually installed this stuff — not just Googled it.

What Makes a Good Siding Blog?

We’ve learned a few things as we’ve built out our blog, despite our best efforts…

1. Keep It Simple

We avoid industry jargon whenever possible. You shouldn’t need a building science degree to understand what your house needs.

Instead of:

“Ensure appropriate fastener depth based on wind load calculations…”
We’ll say:
“Make sure the nails aren’t overdriven — that’s what keeps the panels secure in strong winds.”

2. Add Real Value

We aim to write posts that help you make informed decisions — not just sell you on a product. Whether it’s explaining siding warranties, or showing the pros and cons of vinyl vs Hardie board, our goal is to help, not hype.

3. Be Ourselves

We’re siding contractors, not professional writers. But we know our craft — and we think that matters more than sounding like a textbook.

Real Topics We’ve Covered (or Plan To)

Some blog ideas come directly from customer questions. Others come from real-world experiences on the job site. For example:

  • The Fit form and Function of House Siding

  • Why Your Siding Might Be Letting in Water (and What to Do About It)

  • Vinyl Siding V Fiber cement Siding

  • How much should a siding replacement cost?

If you’ve ever wondered about something siding-related, there’s a good chance we’ve written — or will write — about it.

The Bottom Line

At the end of the day, we’re not just in the siding business. We’re in the home protection business. The curb appeal business. The elevating your home business.

Our blog is here to support that. To give you helpful info in plain language. And maybe even make you smile along the way.

Thanks for reading — and if there’s ever a topic you’d like us to cover, just let us know. We’re always up for a new blog, no really, we are.
